Deformed southern margin of >8 m-thick mafic dike near Taboose Pass, eastern Sierra. An epidote vein (outlined), initially at a high angle to the dike margin, has been sheared subparallel to the dike along its margin. Folding similar to this is observed on the opposite side of the dike, and also is sinistral in the plane of the outcrop. This fabric possibly during left-oblique convergence in the latest Jurassic (e.g., Carl et al., 1995). North to left, width of photo 2 meters. |
