Roadcut on north side of Onion Valley Road, approximately 10 miles west of Independence at STOP 6. The mafic dike at right cuts the dated Jurassic (~148 Ma) dacite dike in the center of the photo and is possibly Cretaceous in age. It may be related to Cretaceous mafic rocks located just a few km to the west in Onion Valley (Scenic Photo 11), or to the north in the Aberdeen mafic sill complex (STOP 4).
