Welcome to the official home page of the Independence Dike Swarm (IDS). The swarm is a major magmatic and stratigraphic feature of the Cordilleran Jurassic arc, and extends over 600 km from the east-central Sierra Nevada to the southern Mojave Desert, California.
For those interested in a first-hand inspection of the IDS, the Cordilleran section of GSA will sponsor a field trip to explore features of the IDS April 4-6, 1998. Anyone interested in attending the field trip should contact Brian Carl or Dr. Allen Glazner at UNC-CH. You may preview a draft of the Field Trip Guidebook and Photographs of the swarm.
The authors gratefully acknowledge the National Science Foundation, the Martin Fund (University of North Carolina), Geological Society of America, and the White Mountain Research Station (University of California) for supporting this research.
